The Largest Water Fight in The World
The SZ Songkran Truck
"Songkran will never be the same again!"
Once you have experienced Songkran on the SZ truck, you will not want to do Songkran any other way again.
On the day, you will be riding in the back of an industrial truck with your own personal driver leading the charge through the local warzone. In the back of the truck, we load up four 500-litre buckets filled with water, along with around ten 100kg blocks of ice to keep that water cold as f*** all day long.
Checkout the video if you want to see what the day will bring.
What Do I Need To Bring?
Below are the essentials for the day. These are not optional. If you turn up without them, you are increasing the risk of injury or health issues for yourself and others.
Sun Protection
Getting wet, then dry, and wet again while the sun is beaming down on you will quickly burn you and sap your energy.
The best protection is to cover up as much as possible. Wear strong sunblock and hats/caps to protect the back of your neck.
I wear a rash vest under my shirt, a head buff around my neck, and a cap.
Bring The Kicks (Shoes)
Wear proper shoes. Going barefoot is dangerous, and flip-flops are unstable and unsafe on the truck. You need footwear that will protect your feet and give you grip throughout the day.
Keep in mind this is an industrial truck carrying 4 x 500-litre water buckets and 12 x 100kg blocks of ice. The floor will get wet, slippery, and chaotic. Bring an old pair of shoes you do not mind getting absolutely soaked.
Good Vibes Check
Songkran is one of the wildest and most fun days of the year. The energy is high, the music is loud, and the whole point is to enjoy the madness.
Come with good vibes, a sense of humour, and a bit of patience. If you are the type to complain all day, kill the mood, or start drama over nothing, this truck probably is not the right place for you.
Recommendations
The things below are not essential, but they are highly recommended if you want to stay comfortable and enjoy the day from start to finish.
Alcohol Notice
You are welcome to bring alcohol on the truck, and we can keep it cold in the big ice bucket. That said, I strongly recommend buying everything you need the day before.
Stopping repeatedly for alcohol top-ups wastes time and kills the momentum of the day. Also, 7/11 sometimes has alcohol sale restrictions, so do not rely on buying more later.
KNOW YOUR LIMITS: If you cannot handle your alcohol and start becoming a danger to yourself or others, you will be removed from the truck.
Weapon of Choice
You are welcome to bring your own water gun. However, we also have custom pipe guns that shoot farther than pretty much anything else out there.
The only downside is that they take more effort to use, so your arms may start to feel it later in the day. You might end up switching to something weaker but easier to handle once fatigue kicks in.
Hail Hydration
I highly recommend that everyone bring at least 2 x 1.5 litres of water to drink. I suggest getting one of those electrolyte sachets to put in it there as well.
Rules/Guideline
These rules are here for a reason. The goal is to have an amazing day without anyone getting hurt or causing unnecessary problems.
Don't Shoot People Eating Food.
Our pipe guns shoot extremely far, and because of the height of the truck, the water can reach deep into restaurants, bars, and other places where people think they are safe.
It might seem funny in the moment, but spraying dirty water all over someone’s food is a pretty bad move. If people are eating, leave them alone.
Don't Shoot People Who Don't Want To Be Shot.
Yes, some people stand around in the middle of Songkran acting like they are above it all and should somehow stay dry. As tempting as it may be, it is usually better to leave them alone.
From experience, people like that can react badly. We have had rocks, bottles, cutlery, and other random objects thrown back at the truck. That is not worth the risk, especially with kids on board.
Be extra careful around babies and small children
Believe it or not, some people bring newborns and toddlers right into the middle of the chaos. If you see very young children, avoid hitting them altogether where possible.
If slightly older kids are clearly taking part and actively playing, keep it light and aim at the body. Do not blast children in the face with full-power ice water.
Be respectful with police and officials
Yes, even the police get involved sometimes, and keeping it playful is part of the fun. But use common sense.
If you spray police or officials, keep it light, aim at the body, and do not hit them full force in the face. Smile, wave, and keep it friendly.
Be careful around people on bikes
When we are driving around, motorbikes often try to overtake the truck. Do not shoot riders directly in the face.
A rider moving one way and a blast of ice water coming the other way can easily cause an accident. The safer move is to pour a stream of water into their path so they ride through it rather than taking a direct hit.
Other Notes
Music Request
Music/Song Requests are allowed. Easier if you let me know a few days before hand.
Truck Top Shelve
At the back of the truck is a shelve that can sit 4 people. Its usually reserved so please ask before jumping up there.
