General FAQ
What Is Griefing?
A griefer is a player in a multiplayer video game who deliberately irritates and harasses other players within the game. (trolling) They may use aspects of the game unintentionally to cause an issue with other players. A griefer derives pleasure primarily or exclusively from the act of annoying other users and, as such, is a particular nuisance in online gaming communities. Griefer will be banned very quickly on our servers.

How to be an SZ Mod or Admin?
Many people ask, “How do I become a mod or admin for Salty Zombies?” Well, there is a process. First of all, we have to notice you. So being a regular, active and helpful member of our community is a good start. Help others, welcome new people into our 7D2D discord, answer questions etc. Every so often, we open up recruitment for community members to apply. If our staff have nothing but good things to say about you, you could get hired.
Mod Recruit – If you get the position, you become a Mod Recruit. This is a three months trial period. After that, you will get a couple of special commands you can use to help other players out and open up tickets whenever an issue you can not resolve arises.
Full Mod – If you perform well after the three month trial period, you will be invited to become a full mod. You get a few more commands to help you help the players and certain privileges. Suppose you perform well after many months, if not a year, as a full mod. You will be promoted to Senior mod.
Admin – Being an admin is tough because Admin means not just being very active, but you have to be very smart. You will have to learn how to use the bot, wipe a server, generate maps, install and edit mods, etc. Each one of our admins could single-handedly run a 7 Days To Die Server by themselves.

7 Days To Die FAQ
How Do I Find Your Servers?
You can find our servers by typing “Salty Zombies” in the 7 Days To Die server list in-game. If you don’t see it, you could be on a different version of the game. If you still have trouble finding our servers, you can join our discord and check the pinned messages. We have quick-connect links to all our servers, or a moderator can help you.
How Many LCB Can I Have?
Generally, it will be 4 per player. The size will depend on if you are playing PVP or PVE – check our PvE Server & PvP Server details for exact details.
What is Tree Farming?
Tree farming is when a player plants rows and rows of trees to collect wood from. Too many trees in a small area can cause server lag and lower FPS. We have banned tree farming for this reason. We have also disabled the ability to get seeds from trees but increased the wood you get per tree. You can still find seeds in the trash and various loot.
Can I Raid Other Player Bases?
No, there is no raiding allowed on any of our servers. Not even on our PVP server. If you find a player’s base, best leave it alone. Our bot will know if you enter their base and steal items out of their forge or boxes. We can track every player’s movements, from where they were, what time they were there and what went in and out of their inventory. If you steal or raid, you will 100% be caught and banned from all servers.
Why Does The Server Reboot so often?
7 Days To Die has issues with memory leaks, and over time these leaks can lead to poor server performance. A reboot every 2 hours keeps everything fresh and gives us more time in between map wipes.
What is a Reset/No Build Zone
A reset zone is a particular area that will get reset after some time. These are usually in big cities or towns. We have these in case a city or major POI is ruined by a griefer or a new player use parts of the city to harbour themselves from a horde night. DO NOT BUILD YOUR BASE IN A RESET ZONE.
What Is Drop Mining?
Drop mining is when you undercut sections of any block or terrain and allow the blocks/terrain above to fall to the ground. Drop mining can cause issues with the server and lead to premature map wipes. You can drop mine in small squares of 5x5x5, equal 125 blocks. Anything more than that, and our bot will detect these falling blocks and alert the admin via discord.
How Do I Update My Game?
- Right-click on 7 Days To Die in the Steam library.
- Select “Properties” at the bottom of the list.
- Click on the “Betas” tab on the right.
- Click on the Drop-Down menu.
- Click on Lastest_Experimental
- Click “Close“, and the update should start.
What Is A High Value POI?
A high-value POI is a pre-fab structure containing high-value loot, IE Gun safes, wall safes, ammo crates, multiple supply crates, etc.
Can I Make A Base In A POI?
No, taking over a POI is not allowed on all our servers. The reason is that trader missions will reset the POI if the one you took over is randomly selected. That means you would lose all your stuff because someone else on the server did a trader mission. So whatever you do. Do not build in a pre-made structure.
What Do I Get If I Donate?
We have different levels for donors with different benefits. Please visit our Donation Page for more details.
How Did Someone Find My Base?
The most common way players find other players’ bases is by following players back to their bases or simply walking around the map with a land claim block in their hands. If it shows as green, they can place the land claim block. If it shows as red, you are either in a no-build zone or over the top of other players’ claimed area.
